memories 3-12
Mar. 18th, 2014 03:38 amGame: Green Knight's Game
Memory: Leaving
Number: 3
Received: Day 309
Form: Memories are in the form of a small chocolate horse (1/1)
What it means: This memory gives Tamaki the awareness that he left his home in France of his own accord to help his mother. Unfortunately, it also gave him the knowledge that his grandmother hated him and thought him nothing but filth. But he had to do this because it was the only way his mother would get the help she needed! This also comes with a feeling of loneliness and uncertainty, but mostly a need to reunite his family.
Game: Uniform Design Game
Memory: Replaced
Number: 4
Received: Day 311
Form: Memories is in the form of a strawberry tart (1/1)
What it means: This one mostly just gives him more knowledge on being rich and the Host Club. Kyouya is mommy and he is daddy! Also Haruhi stole his customer T_T!!!
Game: Lancelot's Game
Memory: Welcome)
Number: 5
Received: Day 312
Form: Memories come in the form of a leaf with three berries attached. (1/3)
What it means: This is the memory of meeting Haruhi for the first time! Info-dump on Haruhi's background and the Host Club itself. Also he might be in love with a boy???
Game: Madame White's Game
Memory: Bonds
Number: 6
Received: Day 314
Form: come in the form of a chinese puzzle ball, four layers deep. shake it to view--the innermost layer will shatter with each viewing, giving you three shares + the outermost shell (which can be destroyed as well to share a memory of your choice., but not until all three inside layers have been used). (1/3 + 1)
What it means: This memory gave back Tamaki his need to find family in other places. He had it before, but it just amplified it. This is a childhood memory of speaking to his old teacher about how his dad taught him family was the most important thing of all. Thus creating his obsession with family because he never really fully believed he had one due to the screwed up situation he was in (because his family wasn't together). This also gives him some note of how few friends he had growing up/his home life (since he seemed to be home schooled).
Game: Hades's Game
Memory: Family
Number: 7
Received: Day 319
Form: In the form of an hour glass (1/3)
What it means: HELLO TERRIBLE COPING MECHANISMS. So this is towards the end of the manga and is just a week of Tamaki not eating/going outside/talking to anyone. This is a reflection of his younger years, but he's doing this because his father did something terrible to his grandmother. That's all he really knows as to why he reacted this way, and only because during this week all he did was play the piano day and night to try and cheer his grandmother up... Because that is how he was taught to try and cope. This more or less gives him the refusal to even listen to anything he disagrees with and teaches him to separate himself from the trouble until they get the message.
...Which does not actually work.
Game: Mulan's Game
Memory: Twins
Number: 8
Received: Day 319
Form: Memories come in the form of a mug (1/unlimited)
What it means: This is Tamaki meeting the twins. Also known as his first memory of trying to create the host club. So he learns a lot about the twins and how he sees them as individuals who come as a pair. That's okay, too! It also shows he super persistent on getting things he wants because he stalks them for a month to win them over. And even when the try to brush him off by shoving his life story in his face/threatening him with it he still doesn't give up. This also shows that he knows people better than they think he does and how he wants to make sure everyone is living a life they believe in...
Game: Jorgi's Game
Memory: SUCCESSOR
Number: 9
Received: Day 320
Form: Memories come in the form of a walnut-sized blue glass ball. (1/1)
What it means: Immediately following the twins is meeting Kyouya! His arrival and France! His new best friend. This is more or less a month of getting assimilated into Ouran, but there's a really important part on the last day. And this is when he visits Kyouya and they talk about their positions in their family. Kyouya confronts him saying he's too easy going and it's not fair that he's successor so easily! Tamaki sees right through this and comments on that even though his grandmother hates him he hasn't given up, but it looks like Kyouya has. Which is disappointing because Kyouya seems to want more than that! This is more or less encouraging Kyouya to keep trying and opens Kyouya's world. /o/
Game: Darkness' Game
Memory: Legacy
Number: 10
Received: Day 328
Form: There are baskets of flowers in the Great Hall for winning teams to pick up. Pluck the petals to receive your memories (1/7)
What it means: THIS IS ACTUALLY A REALLY BIG/IMPORTANT MEMORY. Even more so after the game just played. It's towards the end of the series as well, but it's at a point where Tamaki has grown a lot but is... kind of not sure how to move forward. He had to stay behind on a school trip to France because it would be too hard for him, so he was told to spend this time to think about what he wants.
So being who he is he wrote an entire list of things but still didn't know what to do. After helping an old lady up an escalator he started coming to the conclusion that some things were just inconvenient/scary for people. Thus when he has dinner with his father and watches an employee get unfairly fired and he wants to speak out. Because of his position, however, he can't and he knows this. Once he settles down his father tells him about how he wants him a part of his world, but to do that Tamaki would have to realize that emotions didn't exist in that world and injustices happen.
This becomes really important to Tamaki in canon and in game. In canon he decides that NO that is not what he wants to be a part of and he's going to change things. He doesn't want to run a world-wide cooperation that looks at people as a disposable mass as opposed to individuals. He wants to see and understand them and treat them equally, regardless of gender or class or anything else. And that's also the same reaction he had about Aather. He does not accept Carnelian's method of playing and is even more rooted on changing their image and making sure that everyone can see justice is a thing if you don't give up. Everyone can be happy if someone stands up and fights for it. This memory amplifies his need to want to create a place where everyone is free to be themselves without worries.
Also, feelings confliction! Because daddy was teasing him about being serious about Haruhi. So he has an awareness that he might be in love with her??? Maybe...
Game: Baker's Game
Memory: VALENTINE'S
Number: 11
Received: Day 330
Form: You receive one loaf of bread, sliced into five pieces! (1/5)
What it means: MORE KNOWLEDGE THAT HE UNDERSTANDS MORE ABOUT PEOPLE THAN THEY THINK /o/! This memory actually gives him some knowledge of how much the Host Club listens to him/looks towards him for leadership at times. So he takes this very seriously! Because Mori specifically asked him for help. It also amplifies his need to show people that things aren't always what they seem. More host club antics! He also knows that even if someone throws a wrench in his plan he will always come up with something new. People's happiness is super important '^'.
Game: Mira's Game
Memory: Irises
Number: 12
Received: Day 331
Form: Memories come in the form of a gold ring. (1/3)
What it means: This was actually a really good/fitting memory for Mira's game. He went in knowing that Mira was known for bad games, but after the last memory and his early in game decisions he focused on trying to lead his group. In doing so he approached the Carnelian aspect while still being very much himself. So he tried doing what he thought his team would do while also trying to find ways to have the others have fun and not worry. But this memory is really fitting because through-out the game he tried to find the positive aspects of EVERYTHING. Live beating heart in a shed that was on fire? IT'S OBVIOUSLY THE PASSION OF OUR BURNING HEARTS.
This memory itself is also a version of that except not as extreme. Because he's realized he hurt Ayame unintentionally by commenting on her hair three years previously. So he wants to show her that she's beautiful even if she doesn't think her hair is beautiful, thus they celebrate Ayame as her natural self! So coming off of Mira's game with this just gives him this weird knowledge that his approach isn't wrong and that he can change others opinions. Or show that even prickly people have beautiful hearts and this is super important to him... because it's something he wants to give to Carnelian. /o/
